Marvel producer Geoffrey Colo recently teased on Twitter that a new Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. project would debut on Nov. 30. Fans immediately started speculating on what this could mean for the future of S.H.I.E.L.D. within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and its cast.
Colo revealed the project today on Twitter, sharing that S.H.I.E.L.D. actor Jeff Ward (Deke Shaw) and Marvel crew teamed up to create a Batman-themed parody video called “Fund The Bat” to raise money for out of work entertainment workers during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, including set carpenters, hair stylists, electricians, writers and more. All proceeds go to Motion Picture Television Fund’s COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund.
The video stars Jeff Ward playing Batman during the time of COVID-19. In the short film, Batman is attempting to film a video for his own personal GoFundMe page as he’s become recently bankrupt. He reveals that Alfred is hospitalized with COVID-19 and during this time he tried to manage Wayne Enterprises’ funds but disastrously failed. He couldn’t afford the insurance to his Bat-Mobile so he instead drives a black sedan with a Batman sticker. He lost his Bat-Cave so he practices his crime-fighting moves instead on a local playground.
While the video jokingly showed a bankrupt Batman, it’s GoFundMe page seriously reminds viewers there are a lot of workers currently who need funds to survive. “Though the Batman needs money, many others need it far worse,” the charity wrote. “Please give generously to support the thousands of out of work carpenters, hairstylists, drivers, make up artists, painters, set dressers, electricians, editors, grips, camera people, actors, writers and directors who created the shows and movies that have kept you entertained during this difficult time.”
Actor Clark Gregg, known for his role as Agent Coulson in the MCU also shared the video on Twitter. “Everybody needs a little help these days, even #LeBat,” Gregg captioned the post. “Check out this important (and really funny) video from some familiar friends, then donate anything you can to support the important work of the @MPTF.”

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. aired for a total of seven beloved seasons on ABC. While it was originally created as a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) spin-off, following Agent Coulson from his Iron Man and Avengers roots and into his world, it created a life entirely its own and independent of its relationship with the MCU’s films. The series was based on Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D., which was originally created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Henry Simmons, Iain De Caestecker, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, Elizabeth Henstridge and Clark Gregg. All seven seasons of S.H.I.E.L.D. are streaming now on Netflix.
